Random rewards are a fine bonus and a terrible plan. The single most useful mental adjustment is to treat them as noise on top of your income rather than a source of it.
Never plan a build around a drop
If your intended build requires a specific random item, it is not a plan yet. Build the version of the car you can complete with cash and parts you control, and treat any lucky drop as an upgrade to that.
Understand what you are buying
Paying premium currency for a chance at a specific item is buying the chance, not the item. Sometimes that trade is acceptable — usually it is not, and it is where most wasted spending happens.
Value the reliable rewards
Fixed rewards from events and daily activity are less exciting and far more useful because you can plan around them. Players who feel stuck are often ignoring the predictable income while chasing the unpredictable kind.
Track your own outcomes
If you want to know whether something is worth it for you, keep a short tally over a few weeks. Your own record beats anybody's anecdote, including ours.
Walk away from streak thinking
A run of poor rewards does not make a good one due. Decide your spending limit before you open anything and hold it.
