This is the routine we use on every car before it goes into a ladder. It takes about fifteen minutes and replaces an afternoon of slider-poking.
Step 1: Finish the upgrades first
Tune after upgrading, never during. Every upgrade shifts the curve, which invalidates the settings you just found. If you are mid-upgrade, wait.
Step 2: Establish a baseline
Race your target length three times without touching anything. Note the finishing behaviour: was the car on the limiter, mid-gear, or still climbing? That observation is the input to everything else.
Step 3: Fix grip
If the launch spins, address grip before anything else. A power tune layered on top of a traction problem is measuring the traction problem.
Step 4: Set final drive
Adjust in small steps until the car arrives at the line using all of its available pull without hitting the limiter early. Re-run each step; do not trust a single pass.
Step 5: Set nitrous
Choose burst or duration based on where the run is weakest, then fix your deployment cue and keep it identical across tests.
Step 6: Verify against opponents
A tune validated only against the clock can still lose races. Run the ladder or event you built it for and confirm it behaves under real matching.
Step 7: Log it
Car, upgrade state, race length, each setting, deployment cue, and how the run felt. Without the log you will redo this work every time you come back to the car.
Why the order matters
Each step assumes the previous one is settled. Tuning out of order produces settings that contradict each other, which is exactly what a copied tune feels like when it lands on your car.
