Nitrous tuning trades how hard the boost hits against how long it lasts. The settings only make sense once you have decided where in the race you need the help.
The two dials
More power over less time is a burst: useful when you need to cover a specific gap, usually mid-race after the launch is done. Less power over more time is a sustained pull: useful when the race is long enough that a short burst gets absorbed.
Deciding where you need it
Watch a normal run and find the weakest part of it. If the car is strong off the line and fades late, you want duration. If it launches badly and recovers, you want the burst, deployed once the car has traction, not while it is still spinning.
Using nitrous while the tyres are still struggling wastes most of it. That single mistake costs more than any slider setting.
Setting it by race length
Short races usually reward a punchier setting because there is no time for a slow pull to matter. Longer races usually reward duration, because a burst spent early leaves you with nothing for the second half.
Testing without fooling yourself
Deploy at the same moment on every test run. If your deployment point moves between runs, you are measuring your thumb, not the tune. Once the timing is consistent, change one dial and repeat.
Practising the timing
Pick a visual cue you can hit reliably — a fixed point on the track or a specific gear change — rather than reacting to the speedometer. Consistent timing is worth more than a perfect setting deployed at random.
Record the deployment point
A nitrous tune without its deployment cue is incomplete. Write both down together, or the setup will not reproduce next week.
