How we test a tune before recommending it

Our testing loop for any tuning claim that appears on this site: baseline, one variable, repeat runs, and a ladder check.

Every tuning recommendation here goes through the same loop. It is not complicated, but it is slow, which is exactly why so little published advice survives it.

Baseline first

We record a stock-for-that-build baseline: the same car, the same upgrade state, the same race length, several runs in a row. A single run tells you almost nothing because your own shift accuracy varies more than most tune changes do.

One variable at a time

Final drive, tyre pressure and nitrous each get changed alone. Changing two at once produces a result you cannot attribute, and that is where most bad advice comes from.

Repeat until boring

A change has to hold up across repeated runs, not a single lucky launch. If the difference disappears when the driver makes an average launch instead of a perfect one, we say so, because most of your races are average launches.

Ladder check

Finally the tune races something. A setup that wins on paper and loses to real opponent matching is not a setup we recommend.
